Forgetful Chonburi truck driver causes a million baht of damage after catching electric wires from raised rear of vehicle

Chonburi –

A forgetful local female driver knocked down five power poles after the raised bed of her truck hooked electrical wires in the Mueang Chonburi District, causing an estimated one million baht of damage.

The Mueang Chonburi Police were notified of the incident on a road in the Nong Maidang sub-district yesterday, March 16th, 2022, in the mid-afternoon.

They arrived at the scene to find five power poles and multiple wires were pulled down on the road due to the raised rear of the truck catching wires above the road and causing a chain reaction.

The white truck was found nearby, at the time with its rear still unlocked and raised to the sky. A brand new car nearby was also damaged by falling power poles and wires.

The female truck driver, who was only identified as Ms. Sudawan, told TPN media, “I was not sure if I pulled down the bed from a raised position after delivering iron nearby. The raised bed of the truck caught electric wires and caused damage.”

Electricity was shut off for five hours while staffers repaired power poles and wires. No injuries were reported.

The Mueang Chonburi Police said the truck driver is facing charges of reckless driving causing damages. The cost of damages is estimated for at least one million baht.
