Chonburi –
An unidentified man has been pronounced dead at the scene after being run over by a minivan at a concert in the Mueang Chonburi district.
The Samet Police was notified of the incident at an Issan music concert in the Huay Kapi sub-district over the past weekend.
Police, TPN media, and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a minivan with blood stains on the wheels at the concert area, which had already ended. The minivan driver was not found at the scene and is believed to have fled following the incident.
Nearby, first responders found the body of a man who appeared to be Thai aged around 60. No identification documents were found with him. His body had been completely crushed from the impact of the minivan.
Witnesses said the man might have been drunk and slept on the ground after the concert. The minivan driver reportedly sped away in a different vehicle following the incident and did not check on the health of the victim or wait for emergency responders, instead seeming more concerned with escaping the scene as soon as possible.
Police are continuing their investigation to find the minivan driver for further legal action and identify the victim. TPN notes that the concert and if it was allowed under current Covid-19 regulations in Chonburi technically banning events of over 50 people was not addressed by law enforcement.
