Ban Bueng –
Local police reported that they chased and arrested a 40-year-old man who, lacking all clothing, proceeded to allegedly attack villagers with garden tools and cause a public disturbance over the past weekend.
More than ten police arrived at the scene after panicked villagers called Ban Bueng police for assistance. The suspect immediately fled into a forest nearby upon the arrival of officers and it took more than an hour for police to arrest the suspect, who led law enforcement officers on a foot chase. The suspect was later identified as Mr. San Wuttirat, 40.
Mr. Wuttirat, who was not wearing any clothes, was in a delusional state and unable to answer any questions. Law enforcement officers suspected the man was either under the influence of drugs or in a state of psychosis.
San’s elder sister, Ms. Pissawan Wuttirat, 44, told police, “My brother was running around without clothes through the local village. I told him to put on clothes but he chased after me and tried to hit me with a wooden stick. I ran away and called for help from other villagers. However, he began to attack them with garden tools, hitting one villager in the face and causing serious bleeding. I have no idea what caused him to do this, he has never acted like this before.”
Mr. San was taken to the Ban Bueng Police Station. The name of the villager reportedly injured was not released and it was believed they brought themselves to a nearby hospital. Mr. San will be tested for illegal drugs and will be interviewed by a psychiatrist.
