Thai PM presides over Betong International Airport opening ceremony this morning

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha was onboard on the maiden flight to Betong International Airport to preside over the opening ceremony of Betong International Airport this morning, March 14th.

The Prime Minister and his delegation departed from Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok, with Nok Air flight DD6260 to the new southern international airport at 10:00 AM.

Upon arrival, the Prime Minister would preside over the opening ceremony at 12:00 PM. at the passenger terminal of Betong International Airport in Yarom Subdistrict.

He then would visit the Yala’s OTOP exhibition before meeting with representatives of Yala residents and distributing supply bags for local residents who had been affected by the recent floods. He and his delegation were scheduled to return to Bangkok at 4:45 PM. today.

The airport opening aimed to facilitate domestic transportation in the southern provinces and boost tourism for local residents and entrepreneurs in border areas while potentially building commercial cooperation and tourism markets at the international level with neighboring countries, such as Malaysia and Singapore.
