Bangkok –

The Cabinet Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, has approved the Bangkok governor and Pattaya Mayor elections today, March 8th, before the exact date could be finalized and announced by the Election Commission in a further step.

The approval followed the proposal of the Ministry of Interior at the meeting this morning. However, the Cabinet only held the authority of the election approval, not the determination of the election date.

After this, the date would be considered by the Election Commission officials before announcing it on the Royal Gazette. No actual time frame of the date was reported either, but usually, it would be no longer than 60 days.

Local media previously reported that the Election Commission had reportedly set the election date to be set on Sunday, May 29th, for both Bangkok and Pattaya City. However, it was unofficial and the public should wait for the official data published in the Royal Gazette later.
