27-year-old ‘Big Bike’ rider dies after crashing into an electric pole in Banglamung

A 27-year-old big bike rider has been pronounced dead at the scene after crashing into an electric pole Banglamung last night (March 1st).

The Nongprue Police were notified of the accident at 11:15 P.M. on Motorway Frontage Road in Nongprue.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a damaged Honda CBR500 on the road.

Nearby, rescue workers found Mr. Rittirong Ponyong, 31, from Amnat Charoen. He had sustained severe head injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A helmet was found near the accident but it was unclear if Rittirong had been wearing it at the time of the accident and if it had come off. A power pole nearby was damaged, as seen below.

A witness, Mr. Kiatisak Rodpradit, 27, told TPN media, “I heard a loud crashing sound before the electric cut off in my home. I ran to the scene before calling rescue services for help.”

Electric was off to some houses in the area following the accident and the provincial electric authority was called to assist. Nongprue police stated to TPN they would investigate the cause of the accident.
