RECAP: Thailand announces 20,420 daily Covid-19 infections with 43 additional deaths

Thailand reported a total of 20,420 daily Covid-19 infections with 43 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 1st.

The fatalities were 25 men and 18 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 5. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 1 and 94 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (7), obesity (2), and kidney disease (7). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.

Of the new cases, 19,286 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 357 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 66 were from prisons, and the remaining 171 were imported cases.

A number of 215,725 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 990 patients are in critical condition including 284 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.45 percent of cases that are critical while 28.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,752, followed by Nonthaburi with 1,292, Chonburi with 1,197, Samut Prakan with 1,060, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 719, and Phuket with 678.

A total number of 241,185 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 40,779 people had received their first shots, 20,367 people had received their second shots, and 180,039 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 29.5% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 18,297 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,912,347 cases with 2,673,646 recoveries and a total of 22,976 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
