Thailand reported a total of 23,557 daily Covid-19 infections with 38 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 24th.
The fatalities were 17 men and 21 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 10. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 7 and 97 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (21), diabetes (14), hyperlipidemia (15), obesity (4), and kidney disease (6). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 23,123 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 110 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 96 were from prisons, and the remaining 228 were imported cases. Today was a record high for cases in Thailand, last reached in August of 2021.
A number of 180,993 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 905 patients are in critical condition including 240 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.50 percent of cases that are critical while 26.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,236, followed by Chonburi with 1,250, Samut Prakan with 994, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 899, Nonthaburi with 875, and Samut Sakhon with 970.
A total number of 287,899 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 61,074 people had received their first shots, 43,136 people had received their second shots, and 183,689 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 28.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 16,131 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,794,350 cases with 2,590,589 recoveries and a total of 22,768 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
