Thailand discovered a total of 18,883 daily Covid-19 infections with 32 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 21st.
The fatalities were 13 men and 19 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 6. 31 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 28 and 92 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (18), diabetes (15), hyperlipidemia (8), obesity (0), and kidney disease (10). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 18,618 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 86 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 17 were from prisons, and the remaining 162 were imported cases.
A number of 166,397 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 796 patients are in critical condition including 202 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.45 percent of cases that are critical while 25.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,753, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 960, Samut Prakan with 926, Chonburi with 884, Nonthaburi with 852, and Phuket with 628.
A total number of 141,661 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 26,544 people had received their first shots, 13,130 people had received their second shots, and 101,987 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 27.5% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 14,914 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,731,198 cases with 2,542,145 recoveries and a total of 22,656 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
