More leads and evidence of prime suspects who killed foreigner in Phuket villa found, local police reveals

Phuket –

Police investigation of an Indian-Canadian national who was killed at a Phuket villa continued as the police found a hotel CCTV that captured two suspects rushing out of the place after the incident.

Officials from Phuket’s Provincial Police Region 8 and the investigation unit yesterday morning, February 8th, began examination at a suspected area in the Rawai subdistrict that was presumed to be the place where the two gunmen stayed for observation, located about 2-3 kilometers from the scene, after they were reportedly caught walking past hotel’s surveillance cameras after the shooting.

Caps and white long-sleeved hoodies were found in a nearby rubber plantation area during the inspection. They were collected for DNA traces and evidence examination as the police believed that they might belong to the suspects. They also believed that the suspects were still in Phuket or in Thailand. Officials from all parties were now collecting forensic evidence to expand the investigation results to track and arrest the assailants as quickly as possible.

The footage examination revealed that the one suspect was between 170-180 centimeters tall and another was about 166-170 centimeters tall. Both were wearing black facial masks. After the shooting, they were seen walking past a hotel in the Rawai subdistrict area before crossing the road in front of Rim Hotel on Wiset Road, about 2 kilometers from the scene. Both of them were walking barefoot throughout the escape. The police, therefore, believed they were acquainted with the route.

All physical evidence, such as bullet shells and fingerprints, and captures of CCTV footage would be transferred to Surat Thani’s and Central Police Forensic Science Office for further examination before reporting back to the investigating officers at Chalong Police Station in Phuket.
