Alleged thief who stole 4,900 Euros in cash from Greek tourists arrested in Phuket today

An alleged burglar who reportedly stole 4,900 Euros in cash that was reportedly in their vehicle from a family of Greek tourists was arrested today, February 6th, according to local media reports.

The family, led by Mr. Alexandros, arrived at Karon Police Station today to express thier gratitude after the officials had eventually caught the man who reportedly stole thier money on January 26th.

According to the police statement, the suspect was a 24-year-old Thai man from Udon Thani province who was captured in front of a convenience store in the Chalong Subdistrict of the Mueang Phuket district after being tracked down and an in-depth investigation from CCTV footage.

Initially, the accused reportedly confessed to stealing the cash, stating that he had done it alone because he did not have money and he would look for money to steal from any unlocked vehicles or by removing a motorcycle seat. The suspect reportedly stated that this was not a targeted crime and he found the money randomly while searching vehicles.

He told officials that he had already exchanged some of the stolen 4,900 Euros and spent it. He was now detained for legal proceedings.
