Pattaya celebrates traditional Chinese New Year

Pattaya –

Pattaya City celebrated traditional Chinese New Year yesterday, the year of the Tiger, and the Pattaya mayor gave cash and lottery tickets to City Hall staffers.

The traditional Chinese New Year ceremony was held yesterday (February 1st) at the Pattaya City Hall and was led by the Pattaya City Mayor Sontaya Kunplome, city officials, and City Hall staffers.

Mayor Sontaya started the ceremony by lighting candles and performing religious and ceremonial worship in front of the King Tak Sin the Great statue before a traditional cultural lion dance started which is one of the Chinese New Year signatures.

Many people lined up for free cash in red envelopes (‘Hong Bao’) and lottery tickets from the mayor after the Chinese New Year ceremony.

TPN media hopes everyone had a safe and happy New Year.
