Banglamung Hospital expands RT-PCR Covid-19 testing area for tourists in Test & Go scheme

Banglamung –

The Banglamung Hospital has expanded an RT-PCR Covid-19 testing area for tourists currently in the Test & Go scheme to prevent overcrowding.

Doctor Wasan Kaewvee, the director of the Banglamung Hospital, told TPN media, “We have provided Covid -19 testing for both ATK (Rapid testing) and RT-PCR testing which has a lot of people every day.”

“To prevent overcrowding for foreign tourists, Banglamung Hospital has expanded the area for the second RT-PCR test for tourists in the Test & Go scheme. There are more than 300 of them taking the test every day still.” Dr. Wasan added.

“The testing area is at the Phuangkram Building from 9:00 A.M. to midday. We have more medical staffers who can speak foreign languages here now also, especially English and Russian.” Dr. Wasan concluded.

TPN notes that these test and go arrivals are those who were previously approved before a suspension of the program in mid-December of last year. The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, announced today the program would resume as of February 1st. However, in a big change, the second test will require a traveler on test and go to book and stay at a qualified SHA+ hotel for their day five testing until they get results. As hotels use partner hospitals, of which Banglamung is still a major partner of many local resorts and hotels, the expansion of the test and go location would still be important.

In theory, with the changes to the program, hotels would provide “sealed” transportation to and from the testing location if not available on-site. The new program would also allow hospitals and hotels to better partner with each other on arrival times at the testing sites to ensure a better guest experience.

TPN also adds that the expansion of the test and go physical location comes after several videos from Youtubers were posted online that drew fierce commentary alleging packed conditions and disorganization around the process previously. Due to Thai law, we will not be linking these videos here, however, they are still widely available online as of press time.
