Banglamung/Pattaya –
A food delivery driver has sustained several injuries after he crashed his motorbike into construction barriers on a road that he said was slippery due to sand leftover from construction work in Banglamung last night (January 18th).
Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 8:30 P.M. on Thep Prasit Road in Nongprue. They arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorbike had crashed into several orange construction barriers. Nearby, first responders found the injured delivery driver Mr. Arpakorn Wiwatcharawong, 25. He was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance, however, was cognizant and spoke with TPN reporters before being transported.
Mr. Arpakorn told TPN media, “I was delivering food to a customer in the Jomtien area. There is no specific warning light near the area of the under-construction road, although there is a sign that cannot be read well at night. My motorbike slipped on sand left on the road before I lost control and crashed into the construction barriers. The construction contractors should clear the road completely of sand and debris after completing work and put up warning lights, not just signs.”
Banglamung police stated they would pass the complaint from Mr. Arpakorn on to Pattaya City officials responsible for road construction work, however, it was unclear if this would lead to any organizations or contractors taking responsibility or ownership of the accident. An increasing number of construction projects have been taking place recently throughout the city, leading to regular complaints from local residents, notes TPN media. These construction projects vary in scope and scale with some aimed at moving electric cables underground and others aimed at solving regular flooding issues that have haunted the city for many, many years.
