Two people injured after trailer truck driver falls asleep at the wheel in Banglamung

Two people have sustained injuries after a trailer truck driver fell asleep at the wheel in Banglamung yesterday (January 17th).

Emergency responders were notified of the accident on the Bangkok –Pattaya Road in the Pong sub-district. They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find a trailer truck carrying concrete poles had crashed into a soil pile on the side of the road.

A couple, who were identified as Mr. Rachata Srisuwan, 42, and Ms. Sangrawee Tangsri, 40, were stuck inside the cab of the truck. Rescue workers helped them escape before taking them to a local hospital.

Mr. Rachata told TPN media, “We were heading from Bangkok to Sattahip. At a curve I fell asleep at the wheel before losing control of the trailer truck.”

Banglamung police have declined to press any legal charges in the accident.
