RECAP: Thailand reports 7,133 daily Covid-19 infections with 12 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 7,133 daily Covid-19 infections with 12 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 11th.

The fatalities were 9 men and 3 women. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 21 and 84 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (3), diabetes (4), hyperlipidemia (2), obesity (0), and kidney disease (2).

Of the new cases, 6,632 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 45 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 45 were from prisons, and the remaining 411 were imported cases.

A number of 61,974 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 492 patients are in critical condition including 110 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.74 percent of cases that are critical while 22.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 593, followed by Chonburi with 583, Samut Prakan with 530, Phuket with 468, Ubon Ratchathani with 426, and Nonthaburi with 336.

A total number of 283,574 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 28,297 people had received their first shots, 69,514 people had received their second shots, and 185,763 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 65.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 11.5% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 3,306 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,284,609 cases with 2,200,785 recoveries and a total of 21,850 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
