20 million baht yacht catches fire in Sattahip this morning, cause under investigation

A luxury yacht caught fire at a marina in Sattahip district this morning (January 11th). The cost of damages is estimated at about 20 million baht according to marina officials.

The Na Jomtien Police were notified of the incident at 11:00 A.M. at a marina in the Na Jomtien sub-district in the Sattahip district.

The Na Jomtien Police and firefighters from the Na Jomtien Municipality arrived at the scene with four fire engines to find the yacht was heavily blaze with black smoke.

It took about half an hour to put out the fire in which firefighters had to pull a water pipe 50 meters to the scene.

At this stage it is believed that the fire started from the battery system of the boat malfunctioning. However, the Chonburi Forensic Police are continuing their investigation to find the cause of fire.

The owner of the boat was not immediately identified to the press.
