RECAP: Thailand reports 7,926 daily Covid-19 infections with 13 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 7,926 daily Covid-19 infections with 13 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 10th.

The fatalities were 4 men and 9 women. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 30 and 89 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (8), diabetes (6), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (0), and kidney disease (3).

Of the new cases, 7,229 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 90 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 195 were from prisons, and the remaining 412 were imported cases.

A number of 58,159 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 495 patients are in critical condition including 115 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.85 percent of cases that are critical while 23.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Chonburi with 767, followed by Samut Prakan with 693, Bangkok with 534, Phuket with 513, Ubon Ratchathani with 383, and Nonthaburi with 261.

A total number of 138,885 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 12,766 people had received their first shots, 32,977 people had received their second shots, and 93,142 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 65.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 11.3% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 3,612 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,277,476 cases with 2,197,429 recoveries and a total of 21,838 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
