Large fire breaks out in Chai Nat’s dense community Wednesday, killing two people and damaging more than 30 houses

Two people were killed and more than 30 houses were destroyed during a major fire in the Mueang district of Chai Nat in the early hours of Wednesday morning, January 6th.

Mueang Chai Nat police and firefighters immediately rushed to the scene after being alerted of the fire in Soi Phrom Prasert 2 at around 3:00 A.M. Upon arrival, a wooden house for rent was spotted on fire, spreading to about 20 neighboring houses and about 10 commercial buildings, including stationery stores, gold shops and communication equipment stores as it was a dense community area.

Initially, three injuries and two deaths were reported from the incident. The fatalities were an elderly man and a bedridden patient who were reportedly trapped in burning houses. A firefighter was taken to a local hospital after becoming unconscious from smoke inhalation.

Officials spent nearly six hours extinguishing the large fire before they could initially estimate the damage and examine the area at around 10:00 AM. Meanwhile, the deceased were discovered at the scene and were transferred to a local hospital for an autopsy.
