RECAP: Thailand reports 2,532 daily Covid-19 infections with 22 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 2,532 daily Covid-19 infections with 22 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 26th.

The fatalities were 11 men and 11 women with the most numbers recorded in Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 3. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 25 and 93 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (10), diabetes (5), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (2), and kidney disease (5). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.

Of the new cases, 2,412 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 37 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 23 were from prisons, and the remaining 60 were imported cases.

A number of 35,862 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 813 patients are in critical condition including 206 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.26 percent of cases that are critical while 25.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 414, followed by Chonburi with 179, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 144, Samut Prakan with 79, Prachuap Khiri Khan with 73, and Chiang Mai with 66.

A total number of 389,218 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 65,758 people had received their first shots, 148,072 people had received their second shots, and 175,388 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 70.8% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 63.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 8.6% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 3,771 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,209,970 cases with 2,152,518 recoveries and a total of 21,580 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
