Ban Bueng –

A buffalo’s leg was broken after being hit by a pickup truck in Ban Bueng while the driver of the truck has sustained multiple moderate injuries.

The Ban Bueng Police were notified of the accident earlier this week at midnight in the Nong Bondang sub-district. Law enforcement arrived at the scene to find the female driver, Preeyaphon Tanakornchaiyakarn, 29. She had sustained various moderate injuries but was cognizant and able to speak to the associated Thai press while getting medical aid.

Preeyaphon stated, “I was driving my pickup truck heading to Bangkok. When I arrived at a curve, the area was too dark and two buffalos ran out in front of me. I was unable to stop before crashing into one of the buffalo. I lost control of my pickup truck and careened into the brush and a ditch nearby.”

Ms. Supatra Mueansomboon, 33, a passenger, had sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

The buffalo’s owner, Mr. Dassakorn Chaiyawut, 34 told law enforcement, “It is my buffalo. Its leg was broken from the crash and will be taken to a qualified buffalo veterinarian and livestock office for assistance.”

Ban Bueng police are continuing their investigation and reportedly planned to further interview Mr. Chaiyawut on why his animals were loose at night on a fairly well-traveled road.
