Thai FDA authorizes Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11

Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of the Comirnaty Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech for children aged between 5 and 11 years old.

Dr. Paisarn Dunkum, Deputy Secretary-General of the FDA, revealed today, December 20th, that the vaccine authorization was extended from previously for children aged 12 and over to children aged 5-11 years old.

This Comirnaty vaccine becomes the first FDA-approved vaccine to be administered for children in this age range.

The Pfizer vaccination will be injected intramuscularly and was reduced to 10 micrograms, accounting for one-third of a dose for people aged 12 years and more. The children of the age range will receive two injections, each for 21 days apart.
