Many officials and private sector representatives including the Pattaya Reporter Association, who works with TPN media, made Happy Birthday wishes to the Pattaya City Mayor on his birthday today (December 10th).
The Chonburi Governor Phakarathorn Teanchai and others visited the Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunpluem on the mayor’s birthday at Sane Suk House this morning.
Mayor Sonthaya was born on December 10th, 1963. He is one of Mr. Somchai Khunpluem’s sons. Mr. Somchai is well-known in the eastern region as ‘Kamnan Poa’. Mayor Sonthaya worked in many positions at many major Thai ministries before. Mayor Sonthaya is married to Mrs. Kusumon Khunpluem, who is a former Minister of Culture. Sonthaya’s brothers are also involved in politics in Chonburi and Thailand which is a family tradition. One of his younger brothers, Ittipol Khunpluem, is the current Minister of Culture and a former Pattaya mayor himself.
Mayor Sontaya told TPN media, “My family and I are very glad about the overwhelming love and support we have been shown. Due to Covid-19 precautions, we did not hold a birthday party as I have done in prior years. My plans for the day are modest, including making merit at my local temple and offering food to monks this morning. However, many people came to visit us at the house with gifts and well-wishes which my wife and I deeply appreciate. Thank you everyone.”
The day is also a “day off” for the Mayor as today is “Constitution Day” and government offices are closed as it is a national holiday.
