RECAP: Thailand reports 4,203 daily Covid-19 infections with 49 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 4,203 daily Covid-19 infections with 49 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 9th.

The fatalities were 26 men and 23 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 12. 47 of them were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 28 and 93 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (29), diabetes (19), hyperlipidemia (8), obesity (2), and kidney disease (5). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 4,048 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 95 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 42 were from prisons, and the remaining 18 were imported cases.

A number of 60,415 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,175 patients are in critical condition including 320 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.94 percent of cases that are critical while 27.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 853, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 281, Songkhla with 192, Chonburi with 170, Pattani with 154, and Chiang Mai with 142.

A total number of 462,006 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 170,292 people had received their first shots, 200,828 people had received their second shots, and 90,886 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 68.8% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 59.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.4% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 7,939 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,156,587 cases with 2,075,088 recoveries and a total of 21,084 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
