Thailand discovered a total of 3,525 daily Covid-19 infections with 31 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 7th.
The fatalities were 20 men and 11 women with the most numbers recorded in Chiang Mai with 4. 30 of them were Thai nationals and one was a British national. The age range was between 35 and 88 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (19), diabetes (15), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (3), and kidney disease (10). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 3,448 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 55 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 12 were from prisons, and the remaining 10 were imported cases.
A number of 66,395 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,253 patients are in critical condition including 328 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.88 percent of cases that are critical while 26.1 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 810, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 271, Chonburi with 162, Songkhla with 159, Surat Thani with 153, and Pattani with 110.
A total number of 178,314 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 85,617 people had received their first shots, 53,747 people had received their second shots, and 38,950 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 68.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 59.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 5.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 6,109 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,148,766 cases with 2,061,374 recoveries and a total of 20,997 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
