RECAP: Thailand reports 4,971 daily Covid-19 infections with 33 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 4,971 daily Covid-19 infections with 33 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 2nd.

The fatalities were 16 men and 17 women with the most numbers recorded in Chiang Mai with 6. 31 of them were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 28 and 8 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (18), diabetes (14), hyperlipidemia (5), obesity (3), and kidney disease (8).

Of the new cases, 4,599 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 163 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 198 were from prisons, and the remaining 11 were imported cases.

A number of 73,726 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,355 patients are in critical condition including 346 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.83 percent of cases that are critical while 25.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 778, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 329, Songkhla with 302, Chiang Mai with 208, Surat Thani with 196, and Samut Prakan with 140. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 139 daily infections today.

A total number of 521,693 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 218,111 people had received their first shots, 247,226 people had received their second shots, and 56,356 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 67.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 57.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.9% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 5,402 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,125,729 cases with 2,031,156 recoveries and a total of 20,847 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
