Chonburi –

A 21-year-old driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after he crashed his motorbike into a power pole in Mueang Chonburi.

The Don Hualor Police was notified of the accident over the past weekend in the Na Pa sub-district.  They arrived at the scene to find Mr. Attaphon Gongsong, 21, lying on the road unconscious. He had sustained severe head injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. He had not been wearing a protective motorbike helmet.

A witness, Mr. Gama Rooding, a van driver, told police, “I was driving behind the motorbike driven by the victim. The victim, Attaphon, was driving at high speed. He lost control at a curve before crashing into a power pole.”

Mueang Chonburi police are checking CCTV footage nearby to find the exact cause of the accident and a toxicology test is reportedly being run on the victim.
