Chiang Mai –

A female food vendor from Chiang Mai, Aranya “Olive” Apaiso, 23, was called by Chiang Mai Cultural officials and law enforcement today, November 26th, for wearing revealing clothes and braless clothing during her sales.

Olive had recently become widely mentioned in Thai social media this week after she was captured wearing a colorful sweater fastened with loose buttons while selling food, attracting a lot of customers who were also taking photos of her and sharing on social media.

As of Friday, the female food seller was called to the Chang Phueak Subdistrict police station for an initial examination of the food hygiene and her clothing.

Officials from the Chang Phueak Subdistrict municipality asked her to comply with sanitation rules in accordance with the food stalls guidelines, including wearing and keeping their hair in a cooking cap, wearing an apron, using gloves, and keeping a distance between customers during cooking to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

The Provincial Cultural Office, under the Ministry of Culture, has also expressed their concerns about how she dressed as it was too revealing and asked her cooperation to wear a bra or more safe items of clothing when selling.

Olive said she was willing to follow officials’ instructions and would dress carefully. She also said she had no other intention but only to create a positive atmosphere when doing the business and apologized to her customers and fans that they may not see her usual outfits.
