Alleged armed gold robber at Khon Kaen shopping mall arrested in Pathum Thani, local police reports

Khon Kaen –

A suspect wanted for reportedly intruding and stealing gold necklaces at a department store on Saturday was arrested in Pathum Thani, local police reported today, November 25th.

The shocking incident occurred on Saturday evening when an unknown gunman approached the gold shop located on the second floor of Central Plaza Department Store in Khon Kaen, stealing multiple pieces of expensive gold jewelry.

The local police announced that the expanded investigation over the weekend had led to the identification of the alleged thief who had reportedly escaped the northern province to Pathum Thani province in the central part of Thailand. The suspect, whose name was withheld by the police, has now been taken back for investigation in Khon Kaen province.

According to the initial investigation, he allegedly confessed to the officials for his crime, reasoning that he was in need of money due to online gambling debt. He decided to buy a firearm online before committing the robbery and fleeing potential arrest to Pathum Thani.

TPN media will give additional information as/when it is released by law enforcement. The original crime went viral on social media, largely due to the thief wearing a “Why So Serious” Joker shirt and not being noticed when he first robbed the gold shop by busy store clerks with other customers until he fired a warning gunshot into the air.
