Thailand discovered a total of 6,428 daily Covid-19 infections with 49 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 22nd.
The fatalities were 29 men and 20 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 6. 47 of them were Thai nationals, one of each was a Myanmar and Vietnamese national. The age range was between 14 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (18), diabetes (12), hyperlipidemia (6), obesity (4), and kidney disease (4). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 5,732 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 133 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 553 were from prisons, and the remaining 10 were imported cases.
A number of 85,768 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,595 patients are in critical condition including 382 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.85 percent of cases that are critical while 23.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 815, followed by Songkhla with 457, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 438, Ratchaburi with 289, Surat Thani with 280, and Chiang Mai with 240. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 150 daily infections today.
A total number of 185,639 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 71,076 people had received their first shots, 101,076 people had received their second shots, and 13,487 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 64.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 54.4% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.3% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 7,882 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,071,009 cases with 1,964,805 recoveries and a total of 20,436 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
