RECAP: Thailand reports 6,901 daily Covid-19 infections with 55 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 6,901 daily Covid-19 infections with 55 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 18th.

The fatalities were 26 men and 29 women with the most numbers recorded in Chiang Mai and Pattani with 5 each. 53 of them were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 39 and 99 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (26), diabetes (22), hyperlipidemia (11), obesity (5), and kidney disease (10). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 6,423 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 319 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 144 were from prisons, and the remaining 15 were imported cases.

A number of 90,672 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,742 patients are in critical condition including 406 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.92 percent of cases that are critical while 23.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 878, followed by Songkhla with 592, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 365, Chiang Mai with 278, Yala with 214, and Chonburi with 205.

A total number of 819,319 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 301,736 people had received their first shots, 462,429 people had received their second shots, and 55,154 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 63.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 52.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.1% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 7,556 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,044,125 cases with 1,933,199 recoveries and a total of 20,254 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
