Chonburi Provincial Police Lieutenant General Attasit Kitjaharn told TPN media, “We tracked down the suspect from CCTV footage. The suspect drove his own motorbike away, complete with the license plate on it, after robbing the bank. His motorbike ran out of gasoline on his way home and he hired a taxi motorbike to take him home in the Baangao sub-district.”

“The suspect is identified as Suruya Takona, 31. Following his arrival at home, he fled Chonburi and took a public van to the Mor Chit Station in Bangkok before heading to Chiang Mai on a bus. The Highway Police stopped him at a gas station in Chainat (about 270 kilometers from Chonburi north of Bangkok) at 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 14th.”

“Seized from him was 595,000 baht in cash that he robbed from the bank and a fake handgun. He is facing robbery and theft charges and has been returned to Chonburi and is currently being held in custody at the remand prison awaiting further legal proceedings.” Lieutenant General Attasit Kitjaharn concluded.

The case went viral as the bank robber didn’t utter a word, handing a threatening paper to the teller and successfully walking out with a large amount of cash. The robber stayed so calm that no other staff other than the teller that was held up was aware of the situation, with the bank security guard even helpfully opening the door for the suspect on his way out and wishing him a good day.
