The resort on Koh Larn where a young woman was found deceased earlier this month under mysterious circumstances allegedly had no construction license, according to a prominent civil engineer who works for Pattaya City.

The resort in question has been open for a year, said the engineer but is now currently closed, at least temporarily, for an ongoing investigation into the death of the young woman.

UPDATE: Family of young woman found dead at Koh Larn resort believes gas leak or smoke inside resort lead to death

Now, for our update:

On Thursday, (November 11th), the Pattaya City Police, Ph.D Eakkapot Tantrapiwat, a teacher from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the King Mongkut’s University of Technology, and Mr. Kreangsak Kongkaew, a civil engineer from Pattaya City, inspected the resort in response to the allegations from the family of the victim as seen in the reference articles above.

Ph.D. Eakkapot told TPN media, “No definitive signs of a gas leak were found inside the room. However, when the water heater was turned on, we detected a slight loss of oxygen within the resort room, which is set up like portable pods.”

“At this stage, we still cannot identify if the water heater and the oxygen loss possibly lead to her death. The water heater was taken back to Bangkok and relevant experts for further checking.”

Mr. Kreangsak told TPN media, “The resort has been opened for a year. We did not find a proper construction license for the resort issued from Pattaya City. Additionally, the electric system utilized inside the resort does not reach the proper legal standard.”

“The resort is now ordered temporary closed while our investigation continues,” Kreangsak concluded.

TPN media notes that no legal charges have been placed against the resort at this time and the owners have been reportedly fully cooperating with the investigation, according to Pattaya City Police.
