Thousands of students in Pattaya receive second dose of Pfizer Covid -19 vaccine

Pattaya –

More than two thousand eligible students aged 12-18 from public schools in Pattaya received a second dose of the Pfizer Covid -19 vaccine today (November 9th).

The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplome inspected the main vaccination area at the Mueang Pattaya 2 School this morning along with the TPN team. A video of the inspection is below.

Mayor Sonthaya told the Pattaya News team, “The second dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccination campaign for students in Pattaya is today and tomorrow, November 10th.”

“Today 2,467 students from five schools which are Mueang Pattaya 11 School, Mueang Pattaya 1 School, Mueang Pattaya 2 School, Mueang Pattaya 3 School and Mueang Pattaya 4 School got their second dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.”

“Tomorrow, (November 10th), 2,258 students from five other schools in Pattaya which are Mueang Pattaya 5 School to Mueang Pattaya 9 School will receive their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.”

“Additionally, medical staffers are going to the Mueang Pattaya 10 School on Koh Larn for their vaccination. Students do not have to come to the land for the vaccination. ” The Mayor added.

“There are in total 5,828 students who are available for the vaccination. A total of 95.73 percent of eligible public school students, aged 12-18, have had parental consent and signed up for a vaccine in order to return to school shortly.” The Mayor concluded.

TPN media notes that a Covid-19 vaccine is NOT mandated to return to school and is only part of an extensive program for schools to safely return to the classroom. Mayor Sonthaya stated that public schools would be examined by the Chonburi Communicable Disease Committee “soon” to determine exact dates to return to school. Some international and private schools have already returned to an in-person class.

As a whole, students have been out of in-person school for seven months due to Covid-19 restrictions, since April of this year. Our previous coverage on school vaccination against Covid-19 is below:

A major vaccination day for eligible students in Pattaya started last month with 2,402 students vaccinated against Covid-19 with the Pfizer vaccine, according to the Pattaya City Mayor.
