More than 22,000 visitors have traveled to Thailand upon the reopening of the country to vaccinated foreign tourists from selected countries. Of that, only 20 of them were found positive with the Covid-19 Coronavirus, CCSA (Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration) Deputy spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced today, November 8th.
The deputy spokesperson reported that a total of 22,832 people entered the country since the reopening from November 1st to the 7th. Of that, 20 of the tourists were found infected with Covid19 as verified by an RT-PCR test, accounting for 0.09 percent of arrivals.
Most arrivals were from Germany at number one, followed by the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and South Korea respectively. The Ministry of Public Health will also continue to closely monitor and record the arrivals and the infections, Apisamai stated.
TPN media notes that slight differences were reported on top countries of arrivals, depending on the media source, but the CCSA stood by Germany as the top country.
She further advised all incoming Thai and foreign travelers who enter the Kingdom without detention that they should be cautious and protect themselves by wearing medical masks and performing social distancing in order to help prevent the spread of the virus.
“All travelers are welcomed for economic purposes under public health security. But the pandemic is still ongoing under our reopening, so we urge everyone, both travelers and entrepreneurs, to abide by the country’s preventive measures while the government agencies would also strictly monitor the situation,” Apisamai concluded.
