Fire destroys disco in Pattaya, estimated six million baht in damages

Pattaya –

A fire has destroyed a disco pub in the Banglamung/Pattaya area at noon today (November 3rd). No injuries were reported. The total cost of damages is about six million baht, according to those familiar with the ongoing investigation.

Pattaya City firefighters were notified of the fire at about noon at the Laser Disco pub in Nongprue, which had previously been primarily focused on domestic Thai visitors prior to current Covid-19 regulations and rules that have seen nightlife closed currently for seven months in a row and previously a total of about five months since early 2020.

Firefighters with six fire engines and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the fire was ablaze with lots of smoke. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control without the flames spreading to any nearby businesses but the disco was estimated as a near-total loss by firefighters at the scene.

Ms. Arthitaya Atachi, 35, the owner of Laser Disco, told The Pattaya News, “We started the pub two years ago just before Covid-19. However, due to the Covid -19 pandemic, the place was temporarily closed for most of the pandemic.”

“Water and electricity to the disco were previously shut off. We have had staff on location daily, however, for security and were preparing for hopeful relief from Chonburi and Pattaya officials to allow nightlife to open by December 1st.” Arthitaya continued.

“Today, November 3rd, our staff on-site saw some smoke coming out from the pub before the fire started. Unfortunately, the club has been destroyed by the fire.” Arthitaya stated.

Banglamung forensic police are conducting a full investigation to find the exact cause of the fire. The cost of damages is estimated at six million baht so far according to officials and the owner, no preliminary cause of the blaze was given and it was not immediately known if the venue had insurance.
