Panat Nikhom-

A fire has damaged a foundry while Buddha images were being painted in the Panat Nikhom district. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were notified of the fire earlier this weekend at the foundry in the Na Phra Tat sub-district.

Fire fighting teams arrived at the scene to find the fire was already ablaze with lots of smoke pouring from the building. Staffers from the foundry were seen escaping from the burning building and fleeing across nearby land. It took about 30 minutes to control the fire in total and luckily no injuries were reported.

The foundry owner, Mr. Nattawut Rattawittayakown, 44, told The Pattaya News, “We were painting a Buddha image in the foundry when we noticed one of our exhaust fans was having issues and had been turning more slowly. We shut down the electric breaker to attempt to reset the fan and turned the breaker on again and that was when a fire suddenly sparked.”

Investigators from the Panat Nikhom fire department had no comment to reporters and were still investigating and determining the exact cause as of this weekend. The total estimate of damages was not revealed by either fire investigators or Mr. Nattawut.
