World-renowned Thai-born K-pop singer Lalisa “Lisa” Manoban of Blackpink was confirmed to join the Phuket Countdown Festival 2022 in December, Minister of Tourism and Sports announced yesterday, October 24th.

Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn revealed the progress of the Phuket countdown event and stated that two world-famous artists Lisa BLACKPINK or Lalisa Manoban and Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli will be joining the performance on the island.

“It has been confirmed that both of them can definitely come as we have already talked to both of their agencies. But I’d like all of you to wait for more information next week because we have to talk about all the details again, such as showtime, event format, venue, etc.,” said Phiphat.

The organizing plan of the event will be introduced and proposed to the Cabinet Committee in the following step for budget approval after signing the contract with the artists. According to the minister, the budget for both artists was about 100 million baht while the budget for organizing the event was about 200 million baht.

Previously, the Pattaya Tourism Authority has also planned to invite “Lisa” Blackpink to the provincial countdown festival. It is likely that if she was approved to stage a performance in Phuket, the Thai-born K-pop singer could potentially be participating in Pattaya as well. However, the Tourism Minister did not mention this matter just yet.
