Thailand discovered a total of 9,351 daily Covid-19 infections with 56 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 24th.
The fatalities were 31 men and 25 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 5. 55 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 26 and 91 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (25), diabetes (17), hyperlipidemia (7), obesity (14), and kidney disease (11). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 8,666 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 540 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 139 were from prisons, and the remaining 6 were imported cases.
A number of 101,000 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,432 patients are in critical condition including 546 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.4 percent of cases that are critical while 22.4 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 929, followed by Songkhla with 682, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 582, Pattani with 511, Yala with 487, and Chiang Mai with 461. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 289 infections today.
A total number of 356,084 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 172,514 people had received their first shots, 170,121 people had received their second shots, and 13,449 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 55.4% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 39.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.9% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 10,098 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,850,482 cases with 1,730,727 recoveries and a total of 18,755 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
