Thailand discovered a total of 10,111 daily Covid-19 infections with 63 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 18th.
The fatalities were 39 men and 24 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 9. 59 of them were Thai nationals, three were Myanmar nationals, and one was a Chinese national. The age range was between 17 and 97 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (31), diabetes (14), hyperlipidemia (13), obesity (4), and kidney disease (10). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 9,718 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 328 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 41 were from prisons, and the remaining 24 were imported cases.
A number of 107,226 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,831 patients are in critical condition including 644 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.64 percent of cases that are critical while 22.7 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,046, followed by Yala with 576, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 615, Songkhla with 579, Pattani with 502, and Narathiwas with 466. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 354 new confirmed cases today.
A total number of 457,053 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 238,015 people had received their first shots, 217,372 people had received their second shots, and 19,666 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 52.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 36.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.7% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 10,612 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,793,812 cases with 1,668,250 recoveries and a total of 18,336 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
