Pattaya –
Pattaya City is ready for the “Re-opening” of Pattaya to vaccinated foreign tourists without quarantine with five major scheduled main events up until the end of the year.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha announced earlier this week, October 11th, in a nationally televised speech, the country will be reopening for fully vaccinated foreign tourists from low-risk countries without quarantine by November 1st. TPN media notes this is not yet finalized and official, or set in stone with either the list of countries or processes but that information continues to be released.
First, some reference articles for our readers below:
The Pattaya City Mayor spoke with TPN reporters last month about the scheduled Fireworks Festival on November 26th and 27th of this year which is on the city calendar plan but needs confirmation and final approval from the CCSA (Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration) before moving forward.
The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplome told TPN media yesterday, October 13th, “Over 70% of people in Pattaya have received a second dose of a Covid -19 vaccine at this point, based on house registration and permanent residents. We have also been steadily vaccinating foreign nationals, especially at Central Festival with the help of Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. Meanwhile, all eligible Koh Larn residents have had the opportunity to receive a third dose of the Covid -19 vaccine at this point. In addition, more than 4,000 Pattaya students aged 12-17 are going to receive the Covid-19 vaccine at the end of this month, with the permission of their parents.”
“We are going to hold five main events from the first week of next month until the end of this year. We will be starting with the Pattaya Music Festival, followed by the Loy Krathong Festival, International Firework Festival, Naklua Walk and Eat Festival, and finally the Pattaya Countdown Festival.” The Mayor continued.
“Domestic tourists are interested in coming to join these festivals as well. These events will also encourage international tourists to visit Thailand. However, we are still strictly following Covid -19 measurements during these events.” The Mayor concluded.
TPN media notes that the events have yet to receive official CCSA approval but that the Mayor expects this by the end of this month and that the city has an extensive plan to safely run the events while preventing Covid-19.
We reported earlier today as well that Pattaya City is reaching out to Thai superstar Lalisa “Lisa” Blackpink to possibly appear at the Pattaya Countdown Festival.
TPN media notes that despite the events appearing to go on as planned, there is still no set date for bars, nightlife, and entertainment venues, a major attraction of Pattaya, to be allowed to reopen. At this point, the CCSA has only stated they will “consider” the opening of these venues by December 1st. In fact, technically, alcohol at restaurants remains banned as well in Pattaya.
