29-year-old driver seriously injured after crashing his pickup truck into a power pole in Chonburi

Chonburi –

A 29-year-old driver has sustained serious injuries after he crashed his pickup truck into a power pole in the Phan Thong district.

The Phan Thong Police were notified of the accident Sunday (October 10th) at Amata City phase 10, Marp Pong sub-district.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged pickup truck and a damaged power pole on the side of the road.

The driver, Mr. Meksuwan Poofai, 29, was stuck inside the pickup truck. It took about five minutes for rescue workers to free him out with a hydraulic cutter. He was rushed to a local hospital with several injuries for a full medical evaluation.

Mr. Benjamin Noilee, 25, who is a security guard and a witness to the incident said, “I heard the sound of loud exhaust pipes before the accident, and sounds as of someone “gunning” an engine. I believe speed was a factor. I immediately called the police to assist with the accident.”

Phan Thong police noted to local news reporters that they will question the driver later for further investigation.
