RECAP: Thailand finds 10,817 daily Covid-19 infections with 84 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 10,817 daily Covid-19 infections with 84 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, October 10th.

The fatalities were 43 men and 41 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 11. 79 of them were Thai nationals, four were Myanmar nationals and one was a Cambodian national. The age range was between 5 and 92 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (42), diabetes (29), hyperlipidemia (17), obesity (17), and kidney disease (11). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 10,055 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 649 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 50 were from prisons, and the remaining 63 were imported cases.

A number of 110,880 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,985 patients are in critical condition including 689 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.69 percent of cases that are critical while 23 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,185, followed by Yala with 776, Songkhla with 563, Pattani with 514, Narathiwas with 479, and Samut Prakan with 462. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 457 cases today.

A total number of 230,852 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 114,075 people had received their first shots, 106,299 people had received their second shots, and 10,478 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 48.3% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 32.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.4% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 9,981 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,710,884 cases with 1,582,313 recoveries and a total of 17,691 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
