Chonburi –
A 55-year-old rider has sustained serious injuries after he collided his motorbike with a sedan in Mueang Chonburi this weekend.
Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Friday, October 8th, 2021 at a curve on the Motorway Frontage Road in the Nong Ree sub-district.
Teams of first responders and law enforcement arrived at the scene to find Mr. Suton Meechai, 55, was unconscious and bleeding heavily on the road.
Suton had suffered severe head and leg injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital for medical assistance.
First responders noted that next to the damaged motorbike of Mr. Meechai was a pothole near a curve in the road.
The sedan driver, Mr. Suppasit Supradit, 55, told the associated Thai press, “I was driving slowly as I knew that in front of me was a potentially dangerous curve. I am very familiar with this road and drive it nearly daily.”
“Mr. Meechai was driving at high speed before losing control at the curve and colliding with my sedan,” Suppasit stated.
Mueang Chonburi police believe that Mr. Meechai also hit the pothole in the road while driving at high speed which contributed to the accident. They did not immediately state if the pothole in question would be repaired or if Meechai would be held liable for the damage to Suppasit’s vehicle.
As of press time. Mr. Meechai remained at a local hospital getting medical assistance.
