Sedan plunges into tire shop after being hit by a pickup truck in Chonburi

Chonburi –

Two drivers have escaped injuries after a sedan careened into a wheel and tire shop after being hit by a pickup truck in Mueang Chonburi.

The Don Hualor Police were notified of the accident on Thursday, October 7th, just before sunrise on Suk Prayoon Road in the Na Pa sub-district.

Police and first response teams arrived at the scene to find an unidentified female driver, who declined to give her name to the press, standing outside of a damaged wheel and tire shop where her vehicle had ended up following the accident waiting for law enforcement.

She told Don Hualor police, “I heard a horn before the pickup truck crashed into the back of my sedan. I lost control of my vehicle and plunged into the tire shop, which was closed at the time. The accident and force of my car took me through a metal pulldown door. Luckily, I was not injured and there was nobody inside the main shop, as they were sleeping in back rooms.”

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Trakansak Passa, told Don Hualor police, “I was driving at about 90 kilometers per hour. The driver of the sedan that I hit did not use her turn signals when she suddenly changed lanes, moving into my path. I was unable to avoid the collision. This was not my fault.”

The tire shop owner, Ms. Sunee Shewinworaluck, who lives inside of her shop, told Don Hualor police, “I was sleeping when I heard a loud noise which woke me up. I was afraid at first so I watched the CCTV cameras from my room in the back of the shop before seeing it was an accident and not a potential burglary. I then went outside to give assistance and call law enforcement.”

Don Hualor police have not determined as of press time who is at fault for the accident and stated they will be reviewing CCTV from Ms. Sunee and interviewing both drivers further before determining any potential legal charges or who is responsible for the cost of damages.
