RECAP: Thailand finds 9,866 daily Covid-19 infections with 102 additional deaths

Thailand discovered a total of 9,866 daily Covid-19 infections with 102 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, October 6th.

The fatalities were 51 men and 51 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 22. 97 of them were Thai nationals, three were Myanmar nationals, and one of each was a Cambodian and Dutch national. The age range was between 38 and 102 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (54), diabetes (43), hyperlipidemia (21), obesity (19), and kidney disease (13). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 8,797 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 1,008 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 45 were from prisons, and the remaining 16 were imported cases.

A number of 108,022 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 3,017 patients are in critical condition including 720 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.79 percent of cases that are critical while 23.86 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,208, followed by Songkhla with 666, Samut Prakan with 602, Chonburi with 601, Narathiwat with 501, and Yala with 446.

A total number of 734,804 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 262,362 people had received their first shots, 433,665 people had received their second shots, and 38,777 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 46.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 30.0% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.2% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 10,115 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,667,097 cases with 1,541,770 recoveries and a total of 17,305 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
