Thailand discovered a total of 9,930 daily Covid-19 infections with 97 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 4th.
The fatalities were 57 men and 40 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 27. 93 of them were Thai nationals, three were Myanmar nationals, and one was a Cambodian national. The age range was between 24 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (44), diabetes (33), hyperlipidemia (14), obesity (11), and kidney disease (20). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 8,954 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 607 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 362 were from prisons, and the remaining 7 were imported cases.
A number of 109,748 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 3,071 patients are in critical condition including 719 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.79 percent of cases that are critical while 23.4 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,137, followed by Yala with 764, Chonburi with 594, Songkhla with 484, Pattani with 406, and Samut Prakan with 382.
A total number of 281,070 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 83,168 people had received their first shots, 164,888 people had received their second shots, and 33,014 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 45.8% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 28.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.0% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 12,336 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,647,362 cases with 1,520,503 recoveries and a total of 17,111 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
