Ban Bueng –

A father and his 7-year-old son died while a mother and a daughter have sustained serious injuries after a two-truck collision in Ban Bueng over the past weekend.

The Ban Bueng Police were notified of the accident over the past weekend on Number 344 Road Ban Bueng – Chonburi in the Nong Sam Sark sub-district.

Emergency responders and police arrived at the scene to find the two vehicles had collided violently with each other head-on.

Two people were found dead inside the smaller pickup truck which was the driver, Mr. Channarong Yindeesuk, 44, and his 7-year-old son.

Two others in the smaller pickup truck suffered serious injuries who were Ms. Ratchadaphon Boonsri, 39, and Ms. Chutikan Yindeesuk, 16, who were the driver’s wife and daughter. They were rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical assistance.

The larger truck driver, who wasn’t injured, Mr. Surasit Boonlert, 37, told Bang Bueng police, “There was another truck in front of me that immediately stopped and then attempted to slowly make a U-turn.”

“I tried to avoid the collision with the vehicle ahead of me by swerving into the opposite lane but didn’t see the pickup truck incoming, causing us to collide head-on. My passenger, Mr. Sakda Khekdam, 35 had also sustained injuries, although I did not.” Surasit concluded.

Mrs. Amaraphon Boonsri, 41, who is Mrs. Ratchadaphon’s sister later arrived at the scene after a phone call from first responders.

She told Ban Bueng police through tears, “September 30th was their son’s birthday. They told me over the weekend they would go for a family vacation in Rayong for the son’s birthday. They were returning from their weekend vacation when this accident took place.”

Ban Bueng police did not state if Mr. Surasit would be facing charges over the fatal accident and stated to the press that they were still investigating as of press time.
