Motorbike driver dies after being run over by a truck in Phan Thong

A driver has been pronounced dead while his passenger survived after he and his motorbike were tragically run over by a truck in Phan Thong over the past weekend.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Saturday morning, September 18th, at the entrance of Soi Ban Gao in Ban Gao.

The first response team arrived at the scene to find the body of the motorbike driver Mr. Somchai Garin, 26. Ms. Thitina Sawichai, 22, a passenger of Somchai’s survived with minor injuries. The damaged motorbike that belonged to Somchai was found under the truck.

The truck driver, Mr. Kit Tanomsak, 28, told the associated local reporters, “I was preparing to turn left and had my turn signal on for about 50 meters before. I didn’t see the motorbike driven by Mr. Somchai who came out of nowhere.”

Police are continuing their investigation to determine what exactly led to the tragic death of Mr. Garin and plan on speaking further to Ms. Thitina once she has recovered from her minor injuries and is prepared to speak to law enforcement.
