Four motorbikes stolen in the Pattaya area in one week, police warn local residents to be on guard

Pattaya area law enforcement has informed The Pattaya News that a total of four motorbikes have been stolen in the Banglamung area last week and advised local motorbike owners to be on the watch for thieves in the Banglamung district, driven by a still-struggling economy and lack of job opportunities due to Covid-19 restrictions and a lack of foreign and domestic tourists.

Mr. Sompot Euasakunmongkon, 62, an apartment complex owner in Banglamung, told The Pattaya News, “Two motorbikes have been stolen from my complex in Central Pattaya. The suspects cut a fence to gain access to the motorbike parking area and stole the bikes at this point. We have provided CCTV to Pattaya police.”

Mr. Ruengdet Ratchata, 25, told The Pattaya News reporters after contacting us through social media, “My motorbike was stolen from an apartment in Banglamung, near the railway road. I have already filed a police report. I had heard about gangs of organized motorbike thieves in the area but never thought they would target my bike as it is inexpensive and not of a special design or brand.”

Mr. Patarapong Garasamawan, 35, told The Pattaya News reporters, “My motorbike, which was parked in front of a building in Soi Poethisarn, was stolen during the middle of the night on September 17th, around 1:30 A.M.” The picture above was provided by Patarapong who also gave the footage to law enforcement.

All four motorbike owners have reported their loss to the Banglamung Police with CCTV footage of suspects.

Banglamung Police have not reported the arrest of any suspects as of press time, however, stated they are following several leads based on the CCTV footage provided to them. They warned that several thieves appear to be operating during the curfew hours of 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. and targeting low-traffic areas mostly in Eastern Pattaya. The curfew is in effect due to Covid-19 through at least the end of September.
